Logistic Regression
Logistic Regression is a supervised machine learning algorithm used primarily for classification. It estimates the probability that an input belongs to a particular class and uses that probability to make a classification decision.
What is Logistic Regression?
Logistic Regression applies the logistic function to a weighted combination of input features, producing an output between 0 and 1. This output represents the estimated probability of a class. A classification threshold is then used to assign the prediction to a category, such as yes/no or positive/negative.
Why is Logistic Regression Important?
Logistic Regression is relatively simple, efficient, and interpretable compared with many complex machine learning models. It provides probability-based predictions and helps organizations understand how different input features influence classification outcomes.
Common use cases
Logistic Regression is commonly used for spam detection, fraud detection, medical diagnosis, customer churn prediction, credit risk assessment, and other binary or multiclass classification tasks.
